Funeral

MAY GOD’S PEACE, WHICH IS BEYOND ALL UNDERSTANDING, BE WITH YOU IN THIS TIME OF GRIEF FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

From the Priest and Staff, our condolences to you and your family for your loss. Trust in the Risen Lord!

To set up a Funeral at St. John the Evangelist it is the best policy to have the funeral home contact the Priest  directly. They will make the arrangements with him, this way he can be contacted even if the office is closed. However, feel free to contact the office with any questions or concerns you may have (810)669-1029. We understand that planning a funeral can be overwhelming, especially while grieving. On the funeral planning link you will find some forms that are meant to help you, not add to your feelings of being overwhelmed. Anything you cannot fill out, or do not understand, do not worry about, you can ask the parish staff or the Priest.

The forms are meant to help both you and us, plan a funeral worthy of your Loved One. They contain information needed for our records, to help the Priest be a better minister, and to help plan the funeral liturgy. To help you plan the funeral. Please follow the link below to the funeral planning form.

SCRIPTURE SELECTIONS

You have the option to choose the Scripture Readings. If some stand out as readings that are appropriate we invite you to select them. If nothing speaks to you, the priest would be happy to select them for you. Each Mass contains a reading from the Old Testament (Unless it is Easter Season, then both the 1st and 2nd Reading are both from the New Testament) and one Reading from the New Testament. Each Mass also contains a Psalm which a list is provided in the Music Section of the forms. The Priest generally choses the Gospel Reading.

MUSIC SELECTIONS

Page 2 of the forms contains a list of suggested songs. If you are thinking of a song not on the list it can be discussed with the Music Minister.
